Project “CULTURE TOURISM WORK”

The project is made possible by co-financing from the Ministry of Culture, drawing on PNRR funds provided through the public procedure called “Digital Transition of Cultural and Creative Organizations” (Transizione digitale degli Organismi Culturali e Creativi) – Action A2. The general objective of this initiative is to support the recovery and revitalization of the cultural and creative sectors as defined by the Creative Europe program. These sectors encompass all activities based on cultural values, artistic expressions, and other individual or collective creative expressions, including both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

The specific objectives of the project include, among others:

  • Utilizing new technologies to make cultural content and the complexities related to the territory accessible, also in terms of the perception of heritage and enhancing quality of life through contemporary creativity;
  • Promoting integration into collective dynamics and fostering active citizenship in the realm of cultural access, particularly in marginal areas.

For the Foundation, cultural heritage is understood as “the collection of cultural and landscape assets that constitute the wealth of a place and its population, with particular artistic, historical, bibliographic, ethno-anthropological, or archival interest” (source: Wikipedia.it).
It also includes the array of assets of historical, archaeological, artistic, environmental, landscape, archival, and literary interest, as well as any other assets that serve as material testimonies of civilization.

The Foundation has decided to shine a spotlight on the cultural heritage of the administrative areas of Cerveteri and Fiumicino, specifically focusing on assets held or managed by the Municipality of Cerveteri, Maccarese S.p.A., and the members of the Etrusco-Roman Bio-District (BER).

The “CULTURE TOURISM WORK” project thus addresses a vast cultural heritage, whose “digital transformation” represents, in absolute terms, a monumental task. Given the limited timeframe and financial resources available, this endeavor can only be partially implemented.

Consequently, the Foundation, in agreement and collaboration with the Municipality of Cerveteri, Maccarese S.p.A., and the Etrusco-Roman Bio-District (BER), has selected a limited number of themes. These themes will form the foundation upon which, gradually and over time, the entire corpus of cultural heritage will be digitized and made available on a digital platform.

The selected themes are representative of a past that has reached us today with a static perspective and is only recently beginning to be managed and presented with a dynamic and future-oriented vision.

Finally, also Italy is embracing the promotion of its territories by enhancing its immense tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

The Foundation, the Municipality of Cerveteri, Maccarese S.p.A., and the Etrusco-Roman Bio-District have also chosen to give a dual characterization to cultural heritage, with the thematic thread of “Women” as a central theme and social inclusion as an added value.

The digital platform, developed with professionalism but, above all, with love and passion, is therefore a true “dynamic” representation of cultural heritage.

Finally, the shared commitment is to gradually expand the themes featured on the platform over time, incorporating updates and improvements to the already available content.
